Sampson's Story
|
|
|
Sampson was brought in from a barn home, at the age of 7 weeks, slated for euthanasia as he had no sight. KCFOA took Sampson in with the hopes of giving him a happy life. He has had 3 surgeries to remove his right eye and to help enhance the vision he has left in his left eye.
Thanks to our local vet, Dr. Martin, and the Animal Eye Clinic in Seattle, Sampson now has 80% sight in an eye that originally appeared unsalvageable! Sampson's vet costs have been over $700.00.
Sampson was adopted into a SUPER home in Shoreline, Washington. He is enjoying life with 3 new brothers. Your DONATIONS help us to continue helping animals in need.
Please consider donating today to help other needy animals in our care, please send a check to:

NOT FINDING THE DOG YOU WANT? Also check Old Dog Haven. On this website you'll find a listing of FANTASTIC older dogs in need of homes. Older dogs are often overlooked, but make better pets than puppies who need lots of training! Also, look for dogs at the Yakima Humane Society or Spokane Animal Control via searching petfinder. Both are typically overrun.
Would you like to make a monetary donation? To make a monetary donation we ask that you please
Contact us. Every little bit helps, and the gift is greatly appreciated.
Do you know how online shopping can help a pet? Here is a great way to help KCFOA with no cost to you. Simply go to
igive.com, do a quick registration and choose KCFOA as your chosen cause. Then every time you shop online, if you Start at the icare.com website and link to your chosen store from the icare.com website, KCFOA gets a rebate of anywhere of 2%-10% of your purchase. It's that easy! And what could be nicer than free money to help the animals?
Icare.com has over 600 stores registered, including, Lands End, Barnes
and Noble, Coldwater Creek, CompUSA, Overstock.com Petco and even
ebay! There is no limit to how much money we can raise for the
animals. Please feel free to tell all your friends, family and Neighbors.
As an added gift to KCFOA, right now they are offering that if you
make a purchase within 45 days of registering then they will give us a
$5.00 bonus!
We at KCFOA really appreciate it when you take this extra step as you
do your online shopping. "Hyperactivity" and related energetic behavior is apparently one of the leading reasons owners surrender their dogs to the shelter. However, it does not have to be this way. Give them a job, and put them to work. Meagan Capon and her husband Steve are old pro's this, and in this article they give excellant tips to taming the wild beast in every hyper dog.
Easter Bunny? Make Mine a Chocolate One!
Would you like a cute little bunny for Easter? The staff at MakeMineChocolate.org have some very helpful information that you will find very interresting, and it is a must see website if you are thinking of buying a rabbit for Easter.
If you do not find the type of pet you are looking for on our site, please check the
ELLENSBURG ANIMAL SHELTER, next to the Transfer station on Industrial Way (ACROSS FROM SUPER ONE FOODS), they are typically overrun with great dogs looking for homes. Their number is 509.962.7246. Because we have no foster homes for dogs, we typically have no dogs needing homes! (If you wish to foster, Contact us!)

Getting an animal ready for adoption takes time and money. We volunteer our time, but the money only comes in the form of donations. On average, we spend over a $100 preparing a pet for adoption. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

All potential adopters must fill out an adoption form, be interviewed and have a home check prior to taking home a pet. This may seem extensive, but we are looking for people who are committed to making their new pet a life-long member of their family. Home checks may seem intrusive, however, they are not. We just need to know where the pet lives and that where people say they live, and what they say they have is indeed true because there are people called dealers who buy animals for use in medical clinics, and we want to avoid these type of people.
Online Adoption Forms
We are pleased to announce the addition of online pet adoption forms. Simply click on one of the following links and you will be directed to an appropriate pet adoption form. After completing the form, click the submit button, and we will contact you.

Hours
Please call after 9 am and before 9 pm. We DO NOT have a shelter. We're just volunteers who have opened our homes to these needy pets. In order to facilitate your questions regarding a particular animal, we ask that you please email us so that your request for information can be sent to the correct foster parent. This in turn will allow them to get back to you as quickly as possible. Our Email address is KCFOA@aol.com or just use the link from the specific animal. If you need to call, the number is 509.899.4238. Please leave a message, and we will contact you as soon as possible.
Fees
We ask for donations of at least $100.00 for dogs, $50.00 for cats, and $60.00 for kittens. The donation helps to pay for the spay or neuter surgery, shots for the animal while in our care, and vet visits, therefore adoption fees vary per animal and are posted with the animal's information. The adoption fee does NOT include the rabies vaccine. We are a self-supporting, non-profit group so the donations are really appreciated! Typically we spend more than $100.00 per animal while they are in our care, which does not include the cost of food.
About Our Group
We do not have a shelter facility. We are a FOSTER network and rehome dogs/cats/and other pets. We also raise funds for low-cost spay/neuter programs and education programs for local classrooms. Recently, we have also started a feral cat Trap/Neuter/Return program. We will trap and neuter feral cats if the cats are allowed to return to their home and if they are being fed.
If you would like information on any of our programs or animals, please email us at KCFOA@aol.com
. We also invite you to join our group and/or foster network by joining our egroup at RescueNetWA-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

KCFOA always has a need to place feral, or wild, cats on farms to work as mousers. These cats are great for people who don't want tame cats bugging them, but want the benefit of mouse hunters. We require a barn home, a water source, and that the cats are fed and cared for. Cats that are not fed will not stay where they are at and mouse. These cats typically can't be touched or petted and will run away at first sight of people. To adopt a mouser, email KCFOA@aol.com or call 509-899-4238.Thanks!
KCFOA offers a low income spay and neuter program available for individuals of low income who would like to spay and neuter their cat or dog, but are not financially able to do so . For more information on this program please call 509-899-4238 or email (email will be answered more quickly)KCFOA@aol.com
